(Nothing much, just beginning, and deciding what I want to do!)

My name is Dennis, and I'm from the Quad-Cities area of Illinois on the Mighty Mississippi!

I'm over 50 years old! My favorite sport is fishing, and I get precious little time to do any!

One of my hobbies is amateur radio.  I have an Advanced Class Amateur Radio License, WB9TCJ, but am not very active on the air; not since getting a computer (another hobby) which takes so much of my time.  (You may know that amateur radio operators are often called Hams, and I like being a ham like in other ways as I enjoy silly jokes and puns.)  Perhaps when I retire I will have enough time to try some of the new digital communication modes, like PSK31, that use the computer with the radio transmitter/receiver. As a Ham, I am a member of the Christian Amateur Radio Fellowship (CARF#220).  You can visit their site at http://www.qsl.net/carf/.

A little about myself...

I've been very happily married  since 1971.  My wife and I (both pharmacists) have a son and three daughters.  Our son is a mechanical engineer in Canton, OH, where he lives with his wife who is an ornamental horticulturist (she does lawnscape design for occassional customers), and our grandson born in October 2001.  Our oldest daughter has a degree in Music Ministries (a keyboardist; piano, etc.), and is married to a minister at a Christian Church in the Quad City area.  Our next daughter will be married in June 2002 after graduating from IL State U. with a degree in Elementary Ed., and from Lincoln Christian College with a degree in Bible.  And the youngest will start attending Lincoln Christian College in the fall of 2002, then IL State U., to get a degree in music education. She also is a keyboardist, and a percussionist. I really enjoy hearing to her play the marimba or the vibraphone, as well as the piano.

We are members of the Milan Christian Church, where I also lead the Sunday morning adult bible study during our Sunday School hour.  My wife teaches a Sunday School class of grade school aged children.  Our youngest daughter often plays piano for worship services when the other pianist is unable to be there. (Someone else will have to do that when she is off to college.)

We like to garden and care for our lawn and fruit trees in Summer, while Winter sees us just trying to survive getting to work, to school and church functions, and back home safely.  Oh yes, my wife loves sewing, especially new things, and especially for little girls.  She doesn't get thrilled about mending and alterations, though she does a great job of it, and has made some quilts for our kids, and Raggedy Ann & Andy dolls for new nieces and nephews. She also made our first daughter's wedding dress, and is make one for the second daughter's wedding plus all four bride's maid dresses!

Speaking of being happily married, some years ago while my wife and I were attending graduate school at the University of Michigan, we were members of a church in Ypsilanti, MI, and sang in their choir.  One day at choir practice we learned that it was the wedding anniversary of the minister and his wife, who both also sang in the choir.  Someone asked him how many years they had been married.  Joke loving guy that he was, he answered, "I want you to know that I've been happily married for 5 years ... , and 5 out of 7 ain't bad!"  It was their 7th anniversary.

That's enough for now.  Maybe when I get ambitious (not likely anytime soon), I'll add some of that neat graphics and background stuff to this page like others have on their pages.
Just for fun, I'll try a link, here, to our church's site at ForMinistry:  Milan Christian Church
